Government Green Homes Grant Sustainable Building Services Ltd

What is the Green Homes Grant Scheme?

In early August 2020, The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, announced details of the Government’s new domestic energy efficiency initiative, the Green Homes Grant Scheme.
The scheme, launched in late September 2020, and running until 31 March 2022, sees the government fund up to two-thirds of the cost of home improvements of over 600,000 homes, supporting over 100,000 jobs in green construction.
The Government needs to improve the UK’s carbon footprint and it’s trying to do it by stopping heat loss from your home. Up and down the country homes are going to benefit from this unique opportunity.

Eligibility

Any homeowner or landlord in England will be able to claim a voucher, which are worth up to £5,000.
Households (not landlords) on low income / eligible benefits can receive vouchers covering 100% of the cost of the improvements, up to a maximum of £10,000, potentially covering the full cost of the works. See below all 16 eligible benefits.

Is External Solid Wall Insulation included?

Yes, external solid wall insulation is a ‘key’ measure available under the scheme and is expected to be one of the most popular installations undertaken, along with other forms of insulation that are suitable for your property.
Solid wall and pre-fabricated / non-traditional properties are some of the most inefficient types of housing stock in the UK, and are typically expensive to heat.
External solid wall insulation was developed as the ideal home energy improvement solution for such properties, helping to make them more energy efficient and cheaper to heat.

Are vouchers limited and how long will the scheme last?

The Government has allocated a set amount of money for the scheme, and it will run until 31 March 2022, meaning there is a limited window, and a number of vouchers, for homeowners and landlords to secure their grant.
All works have to be completed and signed off within 3 months of the voucher being issued (with the scheme closing on by 31 March 2022).
Only one voucher can be secured per property.
There hasn’t been a similar domestic energy efficiency scheme since the closure of the Government’s Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) in 2015, where the vouchers were snapped up quickly, causing the scheme to close within weeks of its launch.

This really is an opportunity not to be missed.
